Tommy's Hamburgers Celebrates 17 years on The Boulevard
Fort Worth is a town rich in tradition, and one of the more well known traditions is Tommy's Hamburgers. Having been in business since 1983, Tommy's Hamburgers was originally founded by Tommy and Glenda Smith in a Texaco convenience store in Lake Worth, TX. The very first Tommy's was a big success, and Tommy and Glenda opened several locations across Fort Worth. Tommy's will celebrate 17 years on The Boulevard this July.
In 2007, Tommy and Glenda retired from the restaurant business, but their daughter Kelly Smith kept the restaurant name in the family. Today, Kelly carries on the family tradition with her first location that opened in 2002 on the historic bricks of 5228 Camp Bowie Boulevard.
Kelly has been working with her parents since she was 17 years old. “You have to love the restaurant business to stay in it, and I do,” says Smith. “It’s never boring and every day is different. I guess it’s in my blood.”
For almost 17 years now, the Camp Bowie location has been serving hot, delicious burgers and crispy fries. Their restaurant is family friendly, and it's very popular with the locals. Local craft beers are on tap and an extensive wine is available.
"I take great pride in carrying on the family business. I want to continue the same hometown feel my parents started back in 1983. We have been proudly serving Fort Worth for 34 years now," said owner Kelly Smith.
